Luminescence Sensitivity of Quartz From Rocks Under in situ Chemical Weathering Conditions

چکیده
In provenance investigation of Quaternary sediments, quartz luminescence sensitivity (QLS) has been employed as a technique. The weathering and influence on the earliest signs sedimentary require more consideration. this study, QLS properties eight samples Permian biotite monzogranite from borehole in southern tropics China are investigated. degree chemical does not correspond with values that have undergone varying degrees situ weathering. We hypothesize variation irradiation field during process may affect QLS, but considerably within 200 ka. addition, we discovered same source undergoes weathering, constant response to irradiation-bleaching cycles (IBCs). presence variances thermal activation curves (TACs) rock body indicates further research is required apply TAC indicator.

Chemical weathering indices applied to weathering profiles developed on heterogeneous felsic metamorphic parent rocks
Chemical weathering indices are commonly used for characterizing weathering profiles by incorporating bulk major element oxide chemishy inlo a single metric for each sample. Generally, on homogeneous parent rocks, weathering indices change systematically with depth. However, the weathering of heterogeneous metamorphic rocks confounds the relationship between weathering index and depth. In this ...
متن کاملSensitivity of chemical weathering and dissolved carbon dynamics to hydrological conditions in a typical karst river
To better understand the mechanisms that hydrological conditions control chemical weathering and carbon dynamics in the large rivers, we investigated hydrochemistry and carbon isotopic compositions of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) based on high-frequency sampling in the Wujiang River draining the carbonate area in southwestern China. Concentrations of major dissolved solute do not strictly f...
متن کاملIn situ and experimental evidence for acidic weathering of rocks and soils on Mars
[1] Experimental data for alteration of synthetic Martian basalts at pH = 0–1 indicate that chemical fractionations at low pH are vastly different from those observed during terrestrial weathering. Rock surface analyses from Gusev crater are well described by the relationships apparent from low-pH experimental alteration data. A model for rock surface alteration is developed, which indicates th...
متن کاملIn situ weathering rind erosion
The use of cosmogenic nuclide dating methods place in doubt the long-term future of weathering rinds (WRs) as a chronometric tool. Why estimate ages when radiometric control is possible? This paper presents evidence that WRs can provide invaluable clues about what particular sample would provide the most accurate cosmogenic age by avoiding binheritanceQ of cosmogenic nuclides and by avoiding bo...
متن کاملEnhanced chemical weathering of rocks during the last glacial maximum: a sink for atmospheric CO2?
It has been proposed that increased rates of chemical weathering and the related drawdown of atmospheric CO on the 2 Ž . continents may have at least partly contributed to the low CO concentrations during the last glacial maximum LGM . 2 Variations in continental erosion could thus be one of the driving forces for the glacialrinterglacial climate cycles during Quaternary times. To test such an ...
